Strange guideline edit
I don't know how this page was written and considered by administrators as a rule, but letting publish in Commons anything, even clearly wrong maps or documents not verifiable by reliable sources, is a big problem. Here's a concrete one : Giggette tried to replace a reliable map by an obsolete one on almost every Wikipedia (see the discussion there). It's much more exhausting and difficult to resolve this problem one Wikipedia by one, in different languages, than if it could be corrected directly in Commons.

- This page is an essay, not a guideline, and as such it has no official status. However, we do have a rule that Commons does not editorialize for other projects. See Commons:Project scope/Neutral point of view. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 09:57, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Maps with disputed territories edit
The essay predates the Crimea scandal and is excessively focused on the Near East. But upload wars with “attaching” and “detaching” Crimea became a serious problem in 2014. And File:ЕАЭС 20152258.png #filehistory is a recent small story of success. Should this approach be recommended for the future use? Incnis Mrsi (talk) 16:04, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
