Summary edit
DescriptionGrey Point Fort , Helen's Bay (1) - geograph.org.uk - 441326.jpg |
English: Grey Point Fort , Helen's Bay (1)
Opened in 1916 as a WW1 observation post, Grey Point fort became a searchlight directing station in 1936. It includes two searchlights 354473 and 354479. There were also two 6" guns to protect Belfast against any enemy shipping which might enter Belfast Lough. This is the searchlight direction station. The trees have now obscured its view of the lough. |
