Searching where to post a message

Hello Jeff, just a specific question. Since yesterday, I keep having problems here when searching on Commons (and also Wikidata, etc...) For example, searching for "insane"; evokes 'An error has occurred while searching: We could not complete your search due to a temporary problem. Please try again later.. License assessment request

Hi Jeff G. Would you mind assessing the licensing of File:Cyclic triboelectric series example.png? The file seems to comes from this paper (Figure 7 on page 8). It's not exactly the same figure (it's been changed slightly), but it's close enough that it might at best be considered a COM:DW. There's a linked statement in the paper's abstract that states "Figures - available via license: CC BY" and another one at the top of the first page that states "Available via license: CC BY", but those links are dead, and it's hard to tell if they apply to this particular figure. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:12, 27 June 2023 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: When a source says "CC BY" and links to https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/, it is fair to assume the source means the latest license listed on that page, in this case "Attribution 4.0 International", which we link from {{Cc-by-4.0}}. @Ldm1954: Why did you claim this work was "Own work" and claim to be "the copyright holder of this work" as per {{Self}}?   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ _{please ping or talk to me}🇺🇦 02:36, 28 June 2023 (UTC)

I will try and get to that. I know the original is open source, and I modified it rather than redrawing it; the original paper is cited. The original data does not come from the paper. I put it down as "my own work" as I modified it, I don't care how it is changed. If you want to edit please do. Ldm1954 (talk) 13:21, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
