Category hierarchy

(I messed with that edit summary a little bit:) so about this undo, Black clothing in 2018 is a subcategory for Fashion in 2018. No reason to use the main categories when there's subcats available. Thanks. --Coen (talk) 12:54, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

Who knew? Thanks for explaining. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 13:57, 3 May 2022 (UTC)

Anderson

Hello You reverted my edits like this one. Can you tell me why? Because I cannot understand what you mean by "Not known then as Andersson". PMG (talk) 11:37, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

Ulla Jones is mainly known as Ulla Jones since her marriage to Quincy Jones. She has not been known as Ulla Andersson except during her brief modelling career before she married him. Both her Wikipedia articles are titled Ulla Jones. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 12:05, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
Yes, I was afraid that this is the answer. Are you aware that name that you see in Commons is only name that is provided in Wikidata as name? And there are aliases in Wikidata entry that provide different names? There is only one entry in Wikidata about one person. As you wrote - both her Wikipedia articles are titled Ulla Jones. And both of them are connected to the item that I added to images on commons. What you wrote means for me is "In my opinion entry on Wikidata should have name >Ulla Jones< not >Ulla Andersson< so instead of renaming entry on Wikidata I will remove information that she is on specific images from commons". Did you really wanted to achieve such effect? PMG (talk) 19:59, 18 September 2022 (UTC)
Her name should primarily be Ulla Jones wherever a Wikimedia project has a page for her. If not, then that is the problem. I am not creating one. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 15:34, 19 September 2022 (UTC)

File:W.I.S.P. (R.F.S.H.) demonstration 2008.jpg

Hi! Did some cleaning in Category:LGBT Pride in Sweden yesterday. Since Category:Europride 2008 is a sub-category to LGBT Pride in Sweden I don't find a reason why the picture should be in both. I understand the undo though, this edit was one of the few where a category was deleted and not exchanged for another one. I'll add an explanation. Thanks! / Myohmy671 (talk) 07:38, 25 November 2022 (UTC)

This is about the image, not about me, so it belongs on the talk page of the image, not here. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 11:00, 25 November 2022 (UTC)
You're correct. Let's continue where it belongs. / Myohmy671 (talk) 12:05, 25 November 2022 (UTC)

Reminder

Hi SergeWoodzing. I noticed that you've made a malformed deletion request, omitting transclusion, the subpage, the crop, and notice to the uploader. Here, {{Delete}} is not for speedy deletion, please see COM:DP. When you want to delete a page by manually using the {{Delete}} template (rather than the automatic Nominate for deletion or Nominate category for discussion tool in the Tools menu on the sidebar per COM:DR#Starting requests and COM:CFD#Starting requests), you must follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion (or Commons:Deletion requests/Listing a request manually policy or the "By hand" portion of COM:CFD#Starting requests, normally collapsed), otherwise you will create a lot of work for other people.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 22:09, 25 December 2022 (UTC)

Thank you very much for helping to fix this. I was stressed and the complications irritated me, sorry! I will take a deep breath next time and be more thorough, or else refrain from requesting. That user should probably be looked at for what looks like habitual abuse. I'm even worse at reporting that kind of thing. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 22:27, 25 December 2022 (UTC)
You're welcome. I warned the uploader.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 22:42, 25 December 2022 (UTC)

Flatlist categorization on File:Jacob Truedson Demitz, Ulf Sundberg & Per Olof Ehrs 2018.jpg

Hi, Serge. The flatlist categorization on this file is just a general method for managing a group of sub-categories under specific category (Hard Rock Cafe), so don't worry about it. --Clusternote (talk) 04:39, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

It's some kind of sorting category? --SergeWoodzing (talk) 21:56, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
It is a hidden working category for searching and maintaining the all over the sub-categories. For example, the exact search on all over the Hard Rock Cafe is available only by this type of working category, and easily find mis-categorizations or newly added uncategorized files and correct them. --Clusternote (talk) 05:54, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
The mystery expands. English is my first language, and I have taught it, but I don't know what is meant by "the all over the ..." or "on all over the ...". --SergeWoodzing (talk) 17:31, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
Sorry, English is not my first language. More precisely, it might be better to describe as:
"a hidden work category for searching and managing across subcategories. For example, a precise search of the entire Hard Rock Cafe is only available through this type of work category, and making it easy to find and fix the miscategorised or newly added uncategorised files." --Clusternote (talk) 00:12, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Thank you! --SergeWoodzing (talk) 09:34, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

Defaultsort

Hi Serge,

{{DEFAULRSORT}} isn't a category. {{DEFAULRSORT}} is the way, an item is sorted in each category where no special key ([[Category:Items|key]]) has been noted. It is useful, to apply special keys to the local categories, and to define the defaultsort for categories of wider geographical extent.

Best regards, --Ulamm (talk) 19:32, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

This belongs on your talk page, not mine. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 19:35, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
Now you have destroyed my correct and well explained sorting. Such behavior has to be discussed on your talk page.--Ulamm (talk) 21:23, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
I have asked you to stop doing damage to this project. Your sorting is incorrect and your explanation makes no sense. If you continue doing it, I will have no choice but to ask administrators to look at it. You have no reason to come here with any ridiculous accusations. Don't come back here. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 21:31, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

SchlurcherBot

Regarding Commons:Village_pump/Archive/2022/11#SchlurcherBot: Please note that I have recently discovered that is now possible to have a negative filter for tags. So if you are still annoyed by my bots edits, you should be able to add another filter that excludes this tag. Hope this helps and finally resolves this problem. --Schlurcher (talk) 11:11, 4 February 2023 (UTC)

Thank you, but sorry without specific links I would not have a clue how to do that. Have never used any filters, yet. Would like to, in this case. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 10:22, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
Some details is here: [1]. But, try the following: Go to your Watch list. There is a field for active filters. On the far right there is "Tags" to add specific filters for tags. Find and select the "Bot adding SDC" tag. Then select in the same dropdown the button for "excluding selected". This will add a new active filter of 'not #Bot adding SDC' to your list of active filters. If you are fine with the result and would like this as the new default, go on the icon that looks like a ribbon (left to the recycle bin). Give the filter a new name, and select "set as default". Done. Hope this helps. --Schlurcher (talk) 11:01, 5 February 2023 (UTC)

Category:King_Carl_X_Gustav_family_grave

King Carl X Gustav family grave has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Could you please help me fix this or ask the user who did this to do so? There has never been any king by that name. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 15:03, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
This one too, please! Nobody named Elenonora. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 15:26, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
I have a feeling your knowledge here is a lot more useful than my ignorance. You need to start a CfD. On the category page, click "Nominate category for discussion". It pops up a box (which takes wikitext); it's pretty obvious what to do from that point on, I think. It takes care of creating the discussion page & notifying the person who created the category. - Jmabel ! talk 05:41, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
