Bronze Age settlement on the volcanic Greek island of Santorini (Thera)
Akrotiri is a village on the southern coast of the Greek island Santorini. It is best known for the excavations of an bronze age town close to today's village. The excavations are remarkable for the houses were preserved with their colourful frescos by the eruption of an volcano about 1630 BC.
