English: The Ailsa was a three-masted full-rigged iron-hulled ship built 1870 by Charles Connell & Company Scotstoun, (Yard No 73) for Sandbach Tinne & Co, Liverpool for the China tea trade. 1890 sold to Hajee Jackaria, Liverpool and 1897 to Hajee Mahomed Ben Gooloom, Jeddah (Turkish Empire) and sold later (or chartered) to Arab merchants in Calcutta who employed her carrying pilgrims and merchandise to the Pesian Gulf. 1907 she was scrapped.
Her dimensions were: length × beam = 210.5 × 35 ft (64.1 × 10.6 m) an she had a tonnage of 1112 GRT.[1]
