This category is for all military enagements fought primarely in the Air. Needless to say these battles were fought mostly by planes, nevertheless some of these battles are in fact also Sea battles due to aircraft carriers. These battles are in fact Air and Sea battles.

Air battles is the best name for all the battles that took place in the Air. An other possible term is: Aerial battles. As in english a military engagement in the Sea is most commonly called a "Sea battle", instead of an "Nautical battle", it has been decided that, in name of common sense, this term would be the best available compromise.

This logic can also be followed in the (future) subCategory: River battles, instead of Fluvial battles. The second term is virtually unknown and almost never used.
