Category:Alaskan land train

English: The Alaskan land train was an experimental project in the late 1950s by the US Army to create a vehicle that could deliver logistics support without using roads. Power was gas turbine/electric hybrid and the basic train could transport 150 tonnes of supplies and had a crew of six. However as power/haulage units could be added to the train as needed, larger or smaller payloads could be carried. The land train concept fell out of favour as helicopter technology matured.
