Category:Banners of Knights of St Patrick

The Chapel of the Order of St Patrick was originally in St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, where also the heraldic banners of its knights were displayed. This ceased with the Disestablishment of the Church of Ireland in 1871, although the banners of the knights at the time were left in place on Queen Victoria's request. From 1881 until the establishment of the Irish Free State in 1922, the banners of the Knights of St Patrick were displayed in St. Patrick's Hall in Dublin Castle. When this hall was redecorated in 1962 it was decided to hang it with the banners of those who had been Knights of St Patrick in 1922.
