The vessel was built to the original ship's drawings from files in the British admiralty archives, and in the traditional manner. All dimensions were increased by approximately one third to accommodate the large 70 mm cameras used in the filming.

  • 1960 Named: BOUNTY for MGM film studio for the 1962 film named Mutiny on the Bounty Flag: United States
  • After filming and a worldwide promotional tour, MGM berthed the ship in St. Petersburg, Florida, as a permanent tourist attraction.
  • 1986 Soold to Ted Turner for promotional and entertaining activities
  • 1989 Used during the filming of Treasure Island (1990 film) with Charlton Heston
  • 1993 Donated to the Fall River Chamber Foundation, which established the Tall Ship Bounty Foundation to operate the ship as an educational venture.
  • 02.2001 Sold to HMS Bounty Organization LLC. Due to lack of expensive maintenance the vessel lost her United States Coast Guard license
  • 2002 Restoration of the bottom planking at the Boothbay Harbor Shipyard
  • Used for charter, excursions, sail-training, and movies (most recently in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, and the adult film Pirates)
  • 04.2006 Refurbishing of the ship's front end and topside decking in Boothbay Harbor, a $3m restoration
  • 14.08.2007 At the repeat the voyage of the original Bounty arrived at the birthplace of mutiny leader Fletcher Christian in Maryport, Cumbria
  • 23.08.2007 Docked in Torquay, Devon, for several days.
  • 29.10.2012 the Bounty II was overwhelmed by the force of the hurricane Sandy and sank in the Atlantic Ocean. Of the 16 crewmembers on board 14 were saved by the U.S. Coast Guard, one crewmember was found dead and the captain was missing.
