English: Following the death of en:John Braithwaite the elder (1760–1818), his engineering and manufacturing business was organized in 1818 in the style of J. Braithwaite and Co., London and Liverpool, by his sons John (1797–1870) and Francis Braithwaite (†1870). In 1827 John Ericsson became an associate, which led to a reorganization as Braithwaite and Ericsson. John Braithwaite left in1834, and his brother Frederick Braithwaite succededed him. Around 1836, the company became Braithwaite, Milner and Co.
