The Bridge of Scottish Invention, also known as the The Big Idea Bridge, crosses Irvine Harbour, at the mouth of the River Irvine. It is a footbridge, which can retract to let boats pass. It was built to link to The Big Idea science centre, but has been disused since the closure of The Big Idea in 2003.
