English: For the purposes of categorisation, Category:French Canadians contains categories and files related to the descendents of the French colonists who arrived in New France (Canada) in the 17th and 18th centuries. This includes many of the Québécois, Franco-Ontariens, etc. of today (but not the Acadians, whose culture and history evolved separately from the French Canadian culture of Quebec and elsewhere in Canada). The broader Category:Canadians of French descent includes French Canadians, Acadians, as well as those whose French (i.e. France) background or lineage is more recent.
