English: Cape Coast castle is a fortification on the coast of Ghana. The fort was constructed 1650 - 1653 as Fort Carolusburg (Fort Karlsborg) by Swedish traders after one had closed in 1648 a corresponding contract with the king of Fetu. The construction took place in the race with Englishmen who had begun at the same time to construct an establishment in immediate neighborhood. The aim of the erection of the fort was originally the protection of the trade in timber and gold, primarily with respect to the other European nations acting in this part of Africa. Between 1664 and 1957, the fort was as Cape Coast Castle British possession. Between the 11th April 1714 (Peace of Utrecht) and the 1st May 1807 (Common Declaration of the United States of America and the British Crown from March 1807) the settlement was used also as collecting and shipment point in the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

Il a été construit 1650 - 1653 comme Fort Carolusburg (Fort Karlsborg) par commerçants suédois après que l'on ait fermé en 1648 un traité correspondant avec le roi de Fetu. L'édification avait lieu dans la course avec des Anglais lesquels avaient commencé simultanément à construire une agence dans le voisinage direct. Sie wurde 1650 - 1653 als Fort Carolusburg (Fort Karlsborg) durch schwedische Händler erbaut nachdem man 1648 einen entsprechenden Vertrag mit dem König von Fetu geschlossen hatte. Die Erbauung fand im Wettlauf mit Engländern statt, welche zeitgleich begonnen hatten, ebenfalls eine Niederlassung in unmittelbarerer Nachbarschaft zu errichten. Der Zweck der Erbauung des Forts bestand im Schutz des dortigen Handels mit Tropenholz und Gold vornehmlich gegenüber den anderen europäischen Nationen, die in diesem Teil Afrikas Handel trieben. Zwischen 1664 und 1957 war das Fort als Cape Coast Castle in britischem Besitz. Im Zeitraum zwischen dem 11. April 1714 (Friede zu Utrecht) und dem 1. Mai 1807 (Gemeinsame Erklärung der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika und der Britischen Krone vom März 1807) diente das Fort auch als Sammel- und Verschiffungsposten im transatlantischem Sklavenhandel.
