English: Cariatide à l'urne, grand modéle ("Fallen Caryatid with Urn, Large Model") originated as a part of Auguste Rodin's large work La porte de l'enfer ("The Gates of Hell"). An enlargement of the small model was first presented at the Salon of 1909 with the title La Destinée ("Destiny"). It was originally enscribed with lines by Baudelaire: "Many a flower regretfully / Exhales perfume soft as secret / In a profound solitude." This version in the Garden of the Rodin Museum was cast from a 1918 model. (Source: Musée Rodin)
