Challenge was built by William H. Webb in New York and owned by N.L. and G. Griswold. Her dimensions were: lenght × beam × draft = 230.6 × 43.2 × 26 ft (70.3 × 13.2 × 7.9 m) and weighing 2,006.5 tons. Renamed Golden City in 1862. She was wrecked off the French coast of the English Channel in 1876.
