Category:Charter Fair, Salisbury
In 1227 - seven years after the building of Salisbury Cathedral began - King Henry III granted a Charter to the Bishop of Salisbury to hold a fair on the third Monday in October. That same Charter granted the City permission to hold a market every Tuesday. Both the Charter Market and Annual Fair are still held to this very day. The Charter Market is now also held on Saturdays.
