The Church of Mary Help of Christians is a Roman Catholic church at 436 East 12th Street between First Avenue and Avenue A in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The site was once the cemetery for Old St. Patrick's Cathedral. The 41,000 bodies were exhumed and reburied in Calvary Cemetery in 1909, and construction on the church, which has been planned since 1911, began in 1917. (Source: David W.
