Basic arms & blazon edit

The Windic Hat was placed on the head of a Duke of w:Carantania during the enthronement ceremony (Source: The Swabian Miror (Schwabenspiegel, circa 1275)). The Duke of Carinthia (successor to Carantania) bore the title of Archhunter (Arcimagister Venator) of the Holy Roman Empire, believed to have given him the right to the status of a Prince Elector. The title of Archhunter was claimed by Rudolph IV, Duke of Austria, of the House of Habsburg, as Duke of Carinthia, and inscribed on his seals, to elevate the status of the Duchy of Austria (see: w:Privilegium Maius). In 1358 Rudolph IV, Duke of Austria, granted the Windic Hat as the coat of arms of the Slovenian March (later Lower Carniola, Dolenjsko) (Source: Carantanian Hat, An Ancient Sign of Sovereignty, by Dr. Josef Šavli, FAS, The Augustan Society Omnibus, Book 14, 1993, p. 37 ff [1]) The Windic Hat appears on the seal of Rudolph IV, Duke of Austria
