Category:Commer Q2

The Commer Q2 was a military development of the civilian Commer Superpoise. They were supplied mostly to the RAF.

Three chassis versions were built, with several body variants:

15 cwt

This was built as either a canvas-topped 'van' body, or as an enclosed plywood-bodied office body, used for mobile radio such as D/F and airfield homing beacons. Another special version had aircraft preheating and deicing equipment, with a heating unit and stowage for long air hoses. The engine was a 65bhp 6-cylinder petrol Commer.

30 cwt

A slightly larger version, with a GS body. Some were also built with fireproofed van bodies and Perkins diesel engines for carrying explosives.

30 cwt forward control

A semi-trailer tractor unit, for use with the 'Queen' Mary aircraft recovery trailer although other similar trailers were also used. To increase clearance around the trailer fifth wheel, the cab was moved forwards. A larger 80 bhp petrol engine was used.
