English: Everett Hosmer Barney of Springfield, Mass., descendent of Commodore Joshua Barney, contracted New England genealogist William Frederick Adams to research family history. Firstly, Adams produced a nine-page pamphlet, entitled Commodore Joshua Barney, 1759-1818, which was published in 1910. It was later expanded to a book with the same title published in 1912.
