Category:Cradles for a sculpture of Jesus
Christkindwiege is the German term for an elaborate cradle made for a sculpture of Jesus as baby. These are a distinct form of late medieval devotional object, made for convents and churches, especially in Northern Europe. Fatschenkind ("swaddled child") is the German term for the images of a tightly swaddled Jesus placed in them, or used without them.
