Category:Crystal Restaurant, Allentown, Pennsylvania

The Crystal Restaurant opened in July 1924 at 608 Hamilton Street. It was located in the former Wilmer & Vincent Hippodrome Theater, who closed the cinema and leased it to the Nicas Brothers, who converted the theater auditorium into the Crystal Restraunt. The restraunt was badly damanaged in 1933 when embers from a fire in the upper floors fell through skylights onto the main dining room. Firemen fought the blaze for five hours. However, repairs were made and the restraunt reopened, operating there until 1936.

In August 1936, the building was sold to the Midway Company of Chicago. The Crystal Restraunt subsequently sold off all of its furniture and equipment, however it reopened at 527 Hamilton in a completely remodeled facility in December 1936. However the property was sold in June 1938, and became the Majestic Restaurant, a new buisness. In May 1951, it was again reopened as the Court Restaurant. The Restaurant finally closed in November 1971 when the building it was in, the Styles Building, was torn down and replaced by a new structure.
