This monumental monstrance was commissioned and probably designed by the princess D. Maria Francisca Benedita of Portugal between the late 18th and early 19th century, and offered to the Runa Military Invalids Hospital, an institution that she founded. It is made of silver gilt, diamonds, topazes, acquamarines, emeralds, chrysoberyls, and other gems, standing about 1,30 metres high and weighing almost 15 Kg. Nowadays still stands in the museum of the Centro de Apoio Social de Runa (former Military Invalids Hospital).
