English: Cybèle, grand modéle ("Cybel, Large Model"), was originally conceived by Auguste Rodin to be part of this large work La porte de l'enfer ("The Gates of Hell"). He made a small plaster version in the 1890s called Femme assise ("Woman Seated"). The first case of the full-sized sculpture, called Cybèle after an ancient mother goddess of the Near East, was presented in London in 1914. This version was cast from the 1905 model.
