Dansk: Adelige Jomfrukloster
Deutsch: Lutherische Adelige Fräuleinstifte oder Damenstifte (alias Stifte), meist aus Nonnenklöstern hervorgegangen, daher teils auch einfach Kloster genannt.
English: Lutheran Fräuleinstifte or Damenstifte (Damsels' Convent Foundations), usually housing unmarried (or widowed childless) noble women (sometimes with exceptions as to nobility, sex and marital status, more so in modern times), providing them a decent livelihood, maintained by an endowment of earning assets (landed or financial assets; thus the term Stift), and mostly originating from Roman Catholic nunneries, therefore sometimes simply called nunneries or monasteries, or in English translation as priory and abbey after their chairwomen, titled prioresses or abbesses, respectively.
Svenska: Adeliga Jungfrustifter
