English: The Distillery District, formerly known as the Gooderham and Worts distillery, includes 30 historic brick and stone industrial buildings, some of which are attached to one another, located on 5.3 hectares (13 acres) of land at the intersection of Trinity and Mill streets on the eastern edge of downtown Toronto. The historic buildings were constructed between 1859 and 1927 to produce, package, store, market and develop spirits for the Gooderham and Worts firm, and have been adaptively-reused for office, arts, retail and restaurant uses. Newer mid and high-rise mixed-use buildings have been constructed around the perimeter of the historic core of the Distillery District, all but one of which incorporate historic buildings in the podiums. The entire site is designated a National Historic Site of Canada, and was also designated by the City of Toronto under the Ontario Heritage Act in 1973.
Français : Le Distillery District (anciennement la distillerie Gooderham and Worts) comprend trente bâtiments industriels en brique et en pierre, certains mitoyens entre eux, érigés sur treize acres de terre à l'intersection des rues Trinity et Mill, à la limite est du centre-ville de Toronto. Les bâtiments historiques ont été construits entre 1859 et 1927 pour la production, l'emballage, l'entreposage, la mise en marché et le développement des spiritueux de la firme Gooderham and Worts. Les anciens bâtiments industriels ont été réutilisés de manière adaptative, pour des bureaux, des galeries d'art et studios, des magasins et des restaurants.
