English: Duke of Atholl was a full-rigged ship, built 1865 by Denny & Rankine, Dumbarton for Montgomerie, Workman & Co., London. 1878 the Duke of Atholl was the first sailing ship towed through the Suez Canal. 1880 she sold to Devitt & Moore, London. 1889 she sold to German owners in Rostock and was reducted to a barque and renamed Carla Bauer. 1897 abandoned in sinking condition in the North Atlantic in position 47°N, 10°W. The crew was rescued by the British sailing ship Loch Vennachar.
Dimensions: length × beam × depth = 199.2 × 33.2 × 20.8 ft (60.7 × 10.1 × 6.3 m) and 963 GRT and 963 NRT and 897 tons under deck.[1][2]
