The Dulhadeo temple is part of the Southern group of Khajuraho monuments. It is the last known historic temple-monastery complex built in Khajuraho in the 12th century, before Delhi Sultanate invasions, plunder and subsequent wars ended the Chandella dynasty. The temple is named after a regional legend about "Dulha Dev" – who dies at his peak and that too during his wedding. The temple is also referred to as Delhadev mandir. The original and alternate name of this site is Kunwar matha (monastery) and Shiva mandir.

The Dulhadeo temple is a simpler yet sophisticated Hindu temple, one that likely was the center of a complex of buildings that formed a Shaiva monastery in southern side of Khajuraho. The temple faces east, is in Nirandhara-style. Its pradakshina patha is provided outside the temple on the jagati in manner similar to the 12th century Hindu temples in the Deccan region of India. The temple retains all sections but in a smaller form – Mukhamandapa, mahamandapa, antarala and garbhagriya. A notable feature of this temple is the octagonal mahamandapa with remarkable artwork. This octagonal mandapa had much more art and statues as evidenced by the bracket design and spaces for missing statues (similar design and brackets are found in some remarkable Hoysala temples in Karnataka). The sanctum is flanked by Ganga, Yamuna and other artwork – but, unfortunately, these were defaced and mutilated. The sikhara has been restored in part, the artwork is more compact than the major temples in the Western group.
