English: In the Church of the Holy Sepulchre's catholicon: the south (right) seat is the cathedra for the Greek Orthodox patriarch of Jerusalem. The north (left) seat is for a bishop if the Jerusalem patriarch is absent;[1][2] although a widespread misconception thinks that it is reserved for the Antioch patriarch.
  1. Dowling, T.E. (1913) The Orthodox Greek Patriarchate of Jerusalem "The Patriarch's Seat is on the south-east end, and the corresponding one, immediately opposite, is occupied by one of the Archbishops of this Patriarchate, when required. This north-east Seat is popularly understood [misunderstood] to be the throne of the Patriarch of Antioch. Even [some authors] make this misstatement."
