C'est également un entrepreneur, il est le fondateur et gérant de l'entreprise Ernest Goüin et Cie, qu'il fit évoluer sous le nom de Société de construction des Batignolles, origine du groupe Spie Batignolles, après avoir été dirigée par deux autres générations de Goüin.
