English: Etruscan mirrors are known in several constructive types:
  • Handle mirrors, or hand mirrors: These are the vast majority of the 3000+ Etruscan mirrors that are known.
    • Typically, the back of the mirror disc is decorated with an engraved drawing, or plain (undecorated).
    • Very rarely, the back of the mirror disc has a relief instead. For these, see Category:Etruscan relief mirrors.
  • Stand mirrors, or standing mirrors, are also rare. Typically, the stand is in the form of a female figure (caryatid), so they are also called caryatid mirrors. See Category:Etruscan stand mirrors.
  • Later, there are folding mirrors, also known as hinged mirrors or box mirrors, which can have a relief on the lid and an engraved drawing on the lid inside. See Category:Etruscan folding mirrors.
