English: The Fort Winneba (Winnebah) was built in 1694 by the British. It existed until 1812, as the Fort was attacked by the natives and afterwards abandoned and blusted by the British after the then commandant, Henry Meredith, was captivated and killed publicly by the natives in cruel kind. Still years after this incident had each British ship, which appeared on the coast before Winnebah, fired at least one broadside at this town as vengeance.
