The production of smartphones with the Gigaset brand logo started 2015 in China and 2018 in Germany. Gigaset Communications GmbH is based in Bocholt, Germany. It was the first manufacturer of smartphones in Germany after about 10 years. Gigaset brand is well known in Germany for cordless phones after DECT standard, produced by Siemens until 2005 and overtaken by Gigaset AG (Munich).
