The Guinea Worm Eradication Program (GWEP) is a 1988 launched national program of the Ghanaian government to fight against the endemic spread of the Guinea worm disease (Dracunculiasis) in Ghana after Ghana becoming one of the Carter Center GWEP's first country partners in December of 1987.

(The Carter Center in Atlanta (USA) was founded in 1982 by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and former U.S. First Lady Rosalynn Carter with the aim to help to improve the quality of life for people in more than 80 countries. The fight against the Guinea Worm is one of the projects of the Carter Center.)
