English: A Hana-ire is a container used to hold flowers. It can be used for Japanese tea ceremony or ikebana. There are generally three types found in tea ceremony rooms: one that sits on a flat surface, one which hangs from a hook on the alcove post, and one which hangs from the outer frame of the alcove. They can be made out of ceramics, bamboo tubes, natural materials woven into baskets, or metal.
