Deutsch: Das Haus zum Esslinger am Hühnermarkt war ein barockes, im Kern noch gotisches Fachwerkhaus in der Altstadt von Frankfurt am Main. Es war vor allem dadurch bekannt, dass Johann Wolfgang Goethes Tante Melber im 18. Jahrhundert darin lebte, wie er in Dichtung und Wahrheit beschrieb. 1944 brannte der Bau bei den Luftangriffen auf Frankfurt nieder, die Reste wurden 1950 durch Sprengkommandos beseitigt. Ab 2012/13 soll die originalgetreue Rekonstruktion des Gebäudes erfolgen.
English: The Haus zum Esslinger (House of the Esslinger) at the Huehnermarkt (Chicken Market) was a baroque, at its core yet gothic timber-framed house of the old town of Frankfurt am Main. It was well known for being the home of Johann Wolfgang Goethe's aunt Melber in the 18th century as described by him in Dichtung und Wahrheit (Facts and Fiction). The house was literally razed to the ground during the allied air raids on Frankfurt in in 1944, the little remains were eliminated by demolishing squads in 1950. A complete reconstruction of the building is planned to commence in 2012/13.
