English: Hermann Steinmetz (1831-1903), general superintendent of the Bremen-Verden General Diocese of the Church of Hanover (1885-1902), who in 1891 bought the former Amtshaus (now called Steinmetz-Haus) in Himmellpforten in order to found there a Rettungshaus (i.e. rescue house, an educational and benevolent institution for neglected children), from 1892 to 1943 run by the Inner Mission.
