• 1941 Refit as a troopship and used as an Allied troopship
• 1946 Restored to ocean liner status and refitted as a one-class vessel
• 02.09.1950 First voyage from Amsterdam via Suez to Australia with 1,414 passengers
• 07.1954 Chartered to the Netherlands Government from Rotterdam to Quebec and Montreal and in August 1958 she made her last voyage on this service, completing in all eleven round trips.

• 22-24.12.1963 Destroyed by fire caused by a short circuit of faulty electrical wiring in the ship's barber shop, followed by explosion 35.00 NB - 15.15 WL 200 miles north-northeast of Madeira. 651 passengers and 385 crew. 90 persons killed, 42 persons missing. Five ships took the survivers on board, the burned-out hulk was taken in tow by the Norwegian tugboat Herkules along with the Portuguese tugboat Praia da Adraga, the Dutch CLYDE and another tugboat.
