English: James Leffel, American inventor and pioneer industrialist of Springfield, Ohio. He invented and manufactured hydraulic turbines with a series of 12 gates around the periphery of the case. In 1862 founded a turbine-manufacturing company James Leffel & Co. in Springfield, Ohio, which operated also in New Haven, Connecticut; it is still in business.
