English: In medieval timber frame buildings, jettying is a technique of overhanging an upper floor. This increases the available space without obstructing the street. Jettied floors are also termed jetties. In the US, such a building is a "garrison house".

Français : L’encorbellement d'une construction en colombages est la saillie en porte à faux d'un étage qui s'avance sur la rue sans la recouvrir entièrement. Le rez-de-chaussée a ainsi une surface inférieure à l'étage, lequel a lui-même une surface moins grande que l'étage supérieur.
