English: John Bennett Herboth Jr. (1913-1945) was a bomber pilot in the United States Army Air Forces. During World War II, he was assigned as the commander of the 389th Bomb Group in England, flying B-24 Liberators. On 7 April 1945, while piloting B-24 "Palace of Dallas" on a bombing raid over Germany, a Messerschmitt Bf 109 piloted by a member of the Sonderkommando Elbe rammed the B-24, killing eight (including Herboth) of the ten crew members onboard.
