English: On 3 July 1975, the People's Mujahedin of Iran killed a local employee of the Embassy of the United States in Tehran named Hasan Hosnan. They officially announced that Hosnan was mistaken for an American diplomat named Donald Arbona, while there are allegations that he was intentionally targeted as he was an informant for the group and SAVAK at the same time. It is unknown whether this operation was in fact an assassination attempt on the latter or an assassination of the former.
