Program under the Bankhead-Jones Farm Tenant Act of 1937 to acquire, manage marginal agricultural lands. Eventually this program was transferred to the USDA Soil Conservation Service which worked to dispose of the lands by subsequent transfer to local, state, and federal land management agencies.
