Italiano: Il cosiddetto Lare Farnese è una statua colossale facente parte della Collezione Farnese, oggi al Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli (inv. 5975). Il tipo di fanciullo riccioluto con patera in mano, il drappeggio della veste e i calzari fanno pensare che si tratti del Genius Populi Romani, per cui nella sua mano sinistra (di ricostruzione) egli avrebbe dovuto tenere una cornucopia e non un mazzolino di fiori. Tradizionalmente vien detto che la statua è stata rinvenuta a Roma nelle Terme di Caracalla per un disegno di M. van Heemskerck che associa i due soggetti, tuttavia oggi si dubita fortemente di ciò poiché il disegno della statua è anteriore alla data di inizio degli scavi alle Terme di Caracalla.

English: The so-called Lare Farnese is a colossal statue belonging to the Farnese Collection, now in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples (inv. 5975). The type of curly-headed boy with patera in hand, the drapery of the robe and the shoes suggest that he is the Genius Populi Romani, so in his left hand (reconstruction) he should have held a cornucopia and not a bouquet of flowers. Traditionally it is said that the statue was found in Rome in the Baths of Caracalla for a drawing by M. van Heemskerck that associates the two subjects, however today this is strongly doubted since the design of the statue is prior to the start date of the excavations at Caracalla's thermal baths.
