Category:Latona Bridge
English: Bridge built in Seattle in 1891 over Portage Bay, a bay at the northwest limit of Lake Union. It ran from Eastlake to about 6th Ave. N.E. in Latona, just west of the Brooklyn neighborhood (which later became the University District). The path was similar to that of the high bridge built in the 1960s for Interstate 5. David T. Denny had the bridge built in order to extend his streetcar service. The bridge was rebuilt in 1902 to allow pedestrian and vehicular traffic. It was used until 1919 when replaced by the University Bridge a few blocks east.
