English: The Lehigh Valley Railroad (reporting mark LV) was a railroad company established in 1847 as the Delaware, Lehigh, Schuylkill and Susquehanna Railroad Company. On January 7, 1853, its name was changed to Lehigh Valley Railroad. It was sometimes known as the Route of the Black Diamond. The railroad merged with Conrail in 1976. Most of the Lehigh Valley Railroad's main line (from Port Reading Junction in Manville, New Jersey, to Penn Haven Junction in Lehigh Township, Carbon County, Pennsylvania, is currently operated by Norfolk Southern Railway as the Lehigh Line (Nofolk Southern). The tracks between Manville and Newark, New Jersey, are operated by Conrail Shared Assets Operations as the Lehigh Line (Contrail).
