English: Metal sculpture memorial to RAF's 158 Squadron, Bomber Command, Lissett, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
This striking and evocative metal sculpture, designed and constructed by a local artist, Peter Naylor, depicts a team of airmen emerging from the mist and is inscribed with the names of the 851 people who lost their lives on active service from Lissett airfield during World War II. The memorial, unveiled in May 2009, stands just off the road from Lissett to Gransmoor . The nearby former World War II airfield where 158 Squadron was based is now the site of a 30MV wind farm with twelve wind turbines operated by Novera Energy. The energy company will further honour the Squadron by naming eleven of the wind turbines after aircraft that were flown from the airfield.
