Category:Lothian Region Transport

English: The municipal bus company of Edinburgh and it's surroundings of the Lothian region. It replaced the Edinburgh Corporation's transport department in 1975 after local government reorganisation. In 1986, as part of bus deregulation, it was privatised, becoming an arms-length plc, wholly owned by Lothian Regional Council. In 1996, Lothian Regional Council was abolished, and ownership of Lothian Region Transport was split between the successor councils, but the operation itself was kept intact. In January 2000, Lothian Region Transport plc was renamed Lothian Buses plc, changing it's fleetname to just Lothian.
