English: A Hindu-Buddhist mythological sea creature figure, the hybrid creature mixture of fish, lion and elephant, common in temple reliefs in India, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Thailand. In general, only the head, with its large eyes, is evident, but sometimes the body and tail are extended in the shape of scrolls and adopt a purely ornamental purpose. From the open mouth with large fangs escapes a nāga, an animal or a small figure.
